When Scott and I used to travel before we had kids, 12 hour days on the road were just normal. We would laugh to ourselves when people would say they could only drive five or six hours a day. Now we are those people…
Apparently traveling with two kids under two slows down the pace quite a bit. A 16 hour trip to Arizona took us three days, three LONG days.
When you are almost five months old, hanging out with Daddy is as good as it gets. When you are nineteen months old, you always have some extra energy to burn.
The days might have been long, but the drive from Oklahoma through Texas and New Mexico to Arizona had some amazing views.
After three long days on the road and three long days of getting the trailer road ready, we were finally ready to spend our first night in our new home.
I had excitedly reserved a spot ahead of time at a local state park, and it did not disappoint! Lost Dutchman State Park is at the base of the Superstition Mountain. The views are absolutely gorgeous.
I had to laugh at myself that for some reason I had pictured a state park surrounded by pine trees… in the middle of the desert. This certainly is not that! But the park is very clean and quiet, and the number of stars you can see at night is incredible! We even got to watch a quail family eat their breakfast as we ate ours!
And just like that, week one is in the books. We have never been more sure or more excited about our decision to be a fulltime traveling family!
So excited for you and your family. It is awesome to be in God’s will and following His plan. And the sights and wonders He performs aren’t bad either! Blessings to you and yours!
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as usual. Hope to see you in a couple of months? I think I heard Bev say that you would be back in Arizona in a couple of months, anyway that is where your generator will be,. Love you all uncle Stan & aunt Bev.
Praying for safe travels. God be with you in all you do. Love to all.
